Genus Prionace
A genus with a single species, the Blue Shark, Prionace glauca, a wide-ranging oceanic shark with a slender streamlined body, very short labial furrows on the upper jaw only; first dorsal-fin origin closer to the pelvic-fin origin than to the pectoral-fin origin; and teeth not cockscomb-shaped. The Blue Shark lacks keels on the caudal peduncle, spiracles and an interdorsal ridge. Viviparous reproduction.
