Genus Trachinotus

A carangid genus with the following combination of characters: lateral line without scutes and weakly convex above pectoral fin, becoming straight posteriorly; dorsal fin VI–or VII–I, 17‒27; dorsal-fin spines of adults very short with anterior margins not connected by interradial membranes; anal-fin II–I, 16‒25; vertebrae 10 + 14; both jaws with bands of villiform teeth; adipose eyelid weakly developed (Walsh & Smith-Vaniz 2019).
