Genus Carcharhinus
A genus of requiem sharks with 29 species worldwide, and 21 species in Australian waters.
Species in the genus have the origin of the first dorsal fin closer to the origin of the pectoral fin than to the pelvic-fin origin; upper and lower jaws with different shaped teeth. Species lack spiracles and have no keels on the caudal-fin base.
Species have viviparous reproduction.
