Genus Chironemus


Summary:

A genus of kelpfishes with five species having the following characteristics: head depressed with a concave profile above eyes; pointed snout of moderate length; mouth small, not extending to below eyes; small conical teeth on vomer and in bands on jaws; scales absent from head except for small scales on opercle and posterior part of preopercle; membranes behind dorsal-fin spines moderately incised; anal fin pointed; caudal fin truncate; ventral fins inserted about midway between pectoral‑fin base and anus.
