Genus Eupetrichthys


Summary:

The genus Eupetrichthys contains a single endemic species found in the southern half of Australia. Body shallow, moderately elongate; head small, dorsal profile convex; upper jaw not reaching as far as eye; teeth small, caniniform, anterior pair in both jaws enlarged and recurved, upper jaw with enlarged curved canine at rear; scales moderately large, covering body but not head except for one row of cheek scales and 8–10 large scales on opercle; lateral-line abruptly curved downwards below last dorsal-fin spines; dorsal fin of uniform height; caudal fin truncate.
