Genus Neoceratodus

Summary:

Kreftt originally described the Australian Lungfish, Ceratodus forsteri, as an amphibian because he thought it closely resembled the giant salamander. The name Ceratodus is from Latin and means 'horned tooth'. The species was named forsteri after Mr Forster, who presented the specimen to Krefft.

See the Neoceratodus forsteri page for more information.
