Summary:
A tan to whitish combtooth blenny with many reddish spots on the head, a series of H-shaped bars along the sides, numerous small pale bluish spots and dashes on the lower sides, and a vertically-elongate dark spot or blotch behind the eye. Females have 8 pairs of narrow reddish to dusky bars on the sides.

Distribution

Recorded in Australia from Point Quobba (24°29'S) to Rowley Shoals (17°05'S), WA, and from Boot Reef (10°03'S) to Moreton Bay, QLD; also at Cocos (Keeloing) Islands. Occurs elsewhere in the tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific.
Inhabits exposed fringing reefs and shallow reef crests.
