Summary:
A large bright yellow to brownish chromis sometimes with white pelvic fins, and a silvery white semi-circle below the eye.

Distribution

Offshore reefs of north Western Australia, and possibly the northern Great Barrier Reef, Queens;and, and reefs in the Coral Sea. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, east-Indo-west-central Pacific: Indonesia east to Micronesia and Fiji, north to Taiwan and southern Japan, south to Australia.
Individuals or groups usually inhabit steep outer reef slopes at depths to 70 m.

Dorsal fin XII, 11-13; Anal sfin II, 12-13; Pectoral fin 17-18; Lateral-line scales 16-19; Gill rakers 23-28.
Body depth 1.7-2.0 in SL.

Feeding

Feeds on zooplankton.

Etymology

The species is named analis in reference strong, elongate second anal-fin spine of this species.
