A reddish grouper covered in blue spots, with pale upper and lower margins on caudal fin, a lunate tail with a narrow white margin, and sometimes indistinct pale saddles on the back

Distribution

Recorded in Australia from Scott Reef. North West Shelf, Western Australia, and Ashmore Reef, Timor Sea, to the Capricorn Group, southern Great Barrier Reef, Queensland. Although this species is widespread in the tropical Indo-west-central Pacific, it is uncommon in many parts of its range.

Similar Species

The White-edge Coronation Trout has a narrow white margin on the tail, unlike the Yellowedge Coronation Trout which has a relatively broad yellow margin on the tail.
