Summary:
A pale yellow cardinalfish with a pair of narrow brown stripes along upper side, a small black spot on middle of caudal fin base, and pale-edged brownish bars on gill cover.

Distribution

Found on offshore reefs in the Timor Sea off north-western Australia - Ashmore and Hibernia reefs. Occurs elsewhere in the Indo-west pacific.
Groups usually shelter amongst branching corals.

Similar Species

Differs from Ostorhinchus chrysopomus in having pale edged brown bars on the gill cover rather than yellow spots.
