Distribution

North West Cape and offshore reefs of north Western Australia, Ashmore Reef and Cartier Islands in the Timor Sea, to Moreton Bay and reefs in the Coral Sea, Queensland; also Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Christmas Island in the eastern Indian Ocean, and the Lord Howe Island Province in the Tasman Sea. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical Indo-west-central Pacific.

Species Citation

Centropomus macrodon Lacépède 1802, Histoire Naturelle des Poissons Vol. 4: 252, 273. Type locality: Mauritius or Réunion Island.
