Distribution

Montgomery Reef, Western Australia. Elsewhere the species occurs in the Western Pacific, from Indonesia and the Philippines, north to Taiwan and the Ryukyu Islands, Japan, and south to New Caledonia. 

Features

Dorsal fin VI-I,9; Anal fin II, 8; Pectoral fin 14. 
Body elongate, naked; preopercular spine and flap present; lower jaw with small canine teeth.
Pectoral fin elongate, extending beyond anal-fin origin; caudal fin deeply forked. 

Etymology

The specific name refers to the type locality, Nasugbu, Batangas Province, Luzon Island, Philippines.
