North West Cape, Western Australia, and off Gladstone (23°S, 151°E) to north of Cape York, QLD (10°S, 142°E); tropical, Indo Pacific.Inhabits sandy and rocky areas, including crevices, ledges and holes on exposed reef flats and seaward reefs. |

Feeding |
Carnivore - uses its close-set pebble-like teeth to crush hard-shelled invertebrates such as molluscs, crustaceans and sea urchins. |
