Summary:
A sandperch with 3 series of large pale reticulated spots or blotches along the sides, a dark greyish-brown reticulated pattern between the spots, and a pale spot with a black ring above the gill opening.
Recorded from the Australian territory of Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean.

Distribution

Recorded from the Australian territory of Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean. The species occurs elsewhere  in the Indo-West Pacific from the Bay of Bengal to Japan and Indonesia. Either solitary or in small groups on deep reef slopes.

Features

Meristic features: Dorsal fin V, 20-21; Anal fin I, 16-17.
