Summary:
A stingfish with dark brown stripes along the rays of the inner surface of the pectoral fin, dark leading edges on the first four dorsal-fin spines and the first anal-fin spine, a white pectoral-fin base, and no transverse dark bands on the caudal fin. The posterior lacrimal spine is relatively short and not bayonet-shaped.

SE of Vulcan Shoal, Timor Sea, Western Australia (12°50′20″S, 124°22′27″E) in 153 m depth. Elsewhere the species occurs in the West Pacific - Japan, East China Sea, Taiwan, Philippines. Inhabits soft, sandy or muddy substrates on the continental shelf. |

Etymology |
The specific name quincarinatus is from the Latin quinque (= five) and carinatus (= keeled), in reference to the '... five parallel longitudinal keels within the whole extent of the interorbital space'. |
