Summary:

A small creamish-coloured mudskipper peppered with fine brown spots, and five large darker blotches along the sides and the pectoral fins with dark lower margins.

Distribution	Known in Australia from Dampier (Western Australia) to Gladstone (Queensland). Elsewhere in the tropical, east-Indo-west Pacific, from the east coast of India to the Philippines and northern Australia.
Size	To a length of 70 mm
Etymology	The species name madurensis refers to the type locality: Madura Island, Java, Indonesia
Species Citation	Apocryptes madurensis Bleeker, P. 1849. Bijdrage tot de kennis der Blennioïden en Gobioïden van der Soenda-Molukschen Archipel, met beschrijving van 42 nieuwe soorten. Verhandelingen van het Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunsten en Wetenschappen 22: 1-40 [35]. Type locality: Freto Madurae prope Surabaya et Bangeallang, Java, Indonesia.
