Summary:
An undescribed endemic Australian genus with two species characterised by the following combination of characters:
body moderately depressed anteriorly, compressed posteriorly; caudal peduncle prominent; head moderately broad, depressed; snout rounded; eye moderately small; mouth small; lower jaw slightly shorter than upper; strong spine hidden in flesh on side of head; gill opening large, lateral, joined across isthmus; short-based dorsal fin posteriorly, widely separated from caudal fin; ventral sucking disc of moderate size with anterior and posterior halves, papillae pattern as in Posidonichthys but differing in having the papillae present across region A, posterior edge of disc with fleshy fringe.
