Genus Etrumeus


Summary:
Body slender, oval in cross section, belly distinctly rounded; prominent transparent adipose tissue covering eye and almost all of snout laterally; mouth reaching to below forward edge of eye; teeth tiny, in single row only on lower jaw; scales on back and belly not compressed into keel-like scutes; anal fin short, last few rays not elongate; pectoral and pelvic fins with fleshy axillary tissue, base of ventral fins immediately behind vertical through posterior end of dorsal-fin base.
