Distribution

Darwin area, Northern Territory, and Cooktown to Palm Islands, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, Indo-west Pacific, from the east coast of Africa and Madagascar to India, north to Japan and south to Australia.
Inhabits inshore muddy areas and the tidal parts of rivers and estuaries.

Feeding

Feeds on small crustaceans and fishes.
