Summary:

These secretive coral reef inhabits are nocturnal, and usually shelter in holes and crevices during the day.

Identifying features:
Body long, slender, orange to yellow in colour;
Barbels absent, cheeks and gill cover scaled, eyes developed;
Dorsal and anal fins long-based, separate from caudal fin;
Dorsal-fin origin above middle of pectoral fin.

Distribution	Known in Australian waters from coral reef habitats in northwestern and northeastern Australia. Elsewhere, widespread in the Indo-West-central Pacific. Lives in deep holes and crevices in lagoon and seaward reef habitats to 30 m.
