Summary:
A semi-transparent goby peppered with fine dark spots that are concentrated on the side below the dorsal fins, a red iris, and a very long upper jaw and lip that resembles a curved beak.

Distribution

Recorded in Australia from Clerke Reef to Scott Reef, WA, and the northern Great Barrier Reef, QLD. Occurs elsewhere in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean.
Inhabits coral reefs, living on large staghorn corals.


Features

Dorsal fin VI + I, 8-9; Anal fin I, 8-9; pectoral fin 14-16; Longitudinal scale series 15-27.  ; mostly scaleless head and anterior third of body; restricted gill opening to pectoral fin base; extremely elongated tip of upper jaw and lip, looks like curved beak; depth of body at anus 4.2-7.1 in SL
