Summary:
A goosefish with a flattened, flabby body with well-developed skin flaps on the head and sides, a very broad disc-shaped head and a gradually tapering trunk; mouth very wide; first dorsal-fin spine modified into a fishing lure on the snout.

Distribution

Recorded in Australia from off Mandurah, WA (32°S, 115°E) to off Eden, NSW (37°S, 149°E). Elsewhere, widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.
