Distribution

Endemic to Western Australia, from Albany in the south, northwards to North West Cape. Inhabits coastal reefs at depths to 60 m.

Similar Species

The Western Red Scorpionfish differs from the other southern Australian species of Scorpaena in having a deeper body, and a deeper groove on the head behind the eye.
