Summary:
Although this species has long been known as Conger wilsoni”, this name that was intended for a moray eel. The correct name for the Eastern Conger is yet to be determined (Smith 2008).

Distribution

Off Noosa, QLD (26°28'S) to Lake Tyers, VIC (148°06`S), and Recherche Archipelago (122°14`E) to Dongarra (29°15`S) WA, and Middleton Reef and Lord Howe Island, Tasman Sea. Possibly also New Zealand.
