Distribution

West of Lancelin Island, Western Australia, to off Ashmore Reef, Timor Sea. Elsewhere the species occurs on the continental slope in the east-Indo-west-central Pacific, off Indonesia and the Philippines.
Inhabits soft substrates on the mid continental slope at depths of 320–1,460 m, mostly at depths of 900–1,100 m.

Biology

A bottom-dwelling, oviparous species, with females laying paired eggs with horn-like projections. The embryos feed solely on yolk. 
Grows to a total length of at least 57 cm; males are mature at 50 cm T, and females are mature at about 40–45 cm TL.
