Summary:
A pinkish-brown to brownish-orange seaperch with six indistinct brown bands along the side, indistinct diagonal brown bands on the head behind and in front of the eyes, and faint spotting in some individuals.

Distribution

Endemic to south-western Australia, from Lucky Bay to Rottnest Island, Western Australia. Inhabits inshore rocky reefs, usually sheltering in caves and under ledges.

Features

Dorsal fin X-XI, 17-18; Anal fin III, 8; Caudal fin 17; Pectoral fin 15–16; Pelvic fin I, 5; Lateral line scales 44–48. 
Body depth 36–44% SL; head length 42–46% SL; eye diameter 22–26% HL; preopercle with 2–3 large forward directed spines below.
