Distribution

Northwest Shelf to off the Bonaparte Archipelago, Western Australia, off the Northern Territory, and off the Gold Coast, Queensland, to off Wollongong, New South Wales. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, Indo-west Pacific.

Etymology

The species is named in honour of zoologist Isao Ijima of the Science College, Imperial University of Tokyo.
