Summary:
A dull yellow leatherjacket with brownish markings, a prominent groove on the back for receiving the depressed dorsal-fin spine, a long caudal fin, and no bristles on the midsides.
The species is possibly only known in Australia from two small specimens collected at Lord Howe Island in 1898 and 1916. The specimens are juveniles and may be C. longicaudus. However, due to their small size and old age, positive identification is not possible (Hutchins & Randall 1982).
