Distribution

Off eastern, southern and western Tasmania, to the Great Australian Bight, South Australia; also off Macquarie Island. Elsewhere the species is circumglobal in temperate waters of the Southern Hemisphere.

Etymology

Named in honour Andrew Stewart of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongerewa (Te Papa), Wellington, for his years of service to the world ichthyological community and for his many published contributions to ichthyology.
