Summary:
A pale bluish-grey to dark grey damselfish with dusky-grey scale margins forming narrow vertical bands, rear of body, rear of dorsal fin, tail base and caudal fin are bright yellow, pectoral fin slightly yellow; anterior part of dorsal fin with a dark patch and a narrow blue margin; a small black spot present of upper part of pectoral-fin base; head with bluish to lavendar markings below the eye.

Distribution |
Found at the Australian territories of Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands in the Indian Ocean; also in Taiwan, the Amami Islands, southern Japan, and Marcus Island in the northwest Pacific. Inhabits shallow rocky and coral reefs usually in depths to 5 m. |

Biology |
Males and females form pairs during the breeding season, and the males guard the developing eggs. |
