Summary:

An olive-brown galaxias becoming pale brown on the lower sides and cream on the belly, overlain with a pattern of dark spots and blotches, a faint mid-lateral band of gold speckles, and a small gold patch on the gill cover.

Distribution	Known only from the headwaters of Rintoul Creek east branch, a tributary of the La Trobe River in Victoria, at an elevational range of 195-275 m asl. Inhabits small shallow streams with small pools and small shallow riffle zones. The substratte is mostly boulder, cobble and pebbles with smaller areas of gravel, sand and clay, with in-stream cover provided mostly by rocks, with smaller amounts of woody debris, overhanging banks and vegetation.
Conservation	The West Gippsland Galaxias is listed as Critically Endangered under the Victorian Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988.
