Summary:
Terminal phase males of this rare parrotfish have a bluish-green band curving from the corner of the mouth to below the eye and down to the pectoral-fin base.

Distribution

Known to occur in the Australian Territory of Cocos (Keeling) Islands in the eastern Indian Ocean. Elsewhere the species is found in the eastern Indian Ocean, from west Thailand to western and southern Indonesia to central Java and Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
Individuals or pairs inhabit reef slopes and reef lagoons.

Biology

Parrotfishes are protogynous hermaphrodites, and change sex from female to male during their life cycle.
