Summary:
Back, dorsal fin and caudal fin mostly yellow with bright blue spots and wavy lines, upper part of the head reddish, sides and belly silvery to pinkish.

Recorded in Australia from off Bernier Island to off Port Hedland, WA and from the northern Great Barrier Reef, QLD, to off Killcare, NSW, and at Lord Howe Island. Found elsewhere in the tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific. |
Features |
Meristic feature: Dorsal fin X, 11; Anal fin III, 8. Interorbital space slightly convex. Preorbital depth 7.0 to 8.0 times in head length. Pectoral fins long, reaching level of anus. Scale rows on back parallel to lateral line. |
Feeding |
Carnivore - feeds on small fishes, crustaceans and squids. |
