Summary:
A pale greyish-brown goby with 2-3 rows of dusky spots forming narrow horizontal lines along the side, bright blue spots on the head and body, and a dark vertical bar below the eye.

Cape York to Fraser Island, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical west Pacific. Inhabits sandy-mud areas in shallow tidal estuaries, especially among mangroves. |
Features |
Dorsal fin VI + I,11-12; Anal fin I,10; Pectoral fin 17; Lateral scale rows 38-41. Body elongate, compressed; head slightly compressed; jaws subequal; snout rounded, protruding beyond upper jaw; gill opening extending anteriorly to a vertical through posterior margin of preopercle. Pelvic fins united medially, frenum present. Scales mostly ctenoid, those on anterior part of body cycloid; head naked. Sensory canals and pores present on head; longitudinal pattern of sensory papillae rows on cheek; transverse row of sensory papillae just behind chin. |
