Summary:
A dark brownish-green to greyish-green leatherjacket, with white stripe from the snout to the dorsal fin, and often a curved white band from the cheek to the midbody.

Distribution

Recorded from Rowley Shoals and Scott Reef, Western Australia. found elsewhere in the tropical, west Pacific.

Features

Meristic features: Dorsal fin I-II, 29-33; Anal fin 25-30; Pectoral fin 10-12.
Pelvic fin rudiment moderate in size, broadly attached to posterior margin of ventral flap. Midbody scales variable in size. Scale rugosities in males usually develop at about 50 mm SL. Varies considerably with respect to squamation, coloration, fin-ray counts and max. size across its range.
