Genus Parapterois
Summary:
A genus in the subfamily Pteroinae, with 18-21 pectoral fin rays (some rays branched), two anal-fin spines, and a truncate caudal fin with the upper and lower rays longest in large individuals (Motomura 2004). The genus contains two species, one of which occurs in Australian waters.
