Genus Capropygia

A boxfish genus with a single species restricted to southern Australia.
Body short, circular in lateral view, very deep, somewhat hexagonal in cross section; keel like ridges prominent on dorsal and ventral midlines, especially dorsally; each side with distinct longitudinal ridge ventrolaterally with prominent flattened curved spine posteriorly and similar ridge dorsolaterally with prominent centrally placed spine. Dorsal profile of head straight; caudal peduncle with complete bony ring at base of caudal fin and bony plate on dorsal and ventral sides anteriorly, plates covered with rough tubercles.
