Summary:
A deep water genus with 3 species, one found in Australian waters. Characteristics include: shallow mucous cavities on head covered by thick skin; scales small, distinctly ctenoid and firmly attached; lateral-line scales enlarged, each with a small central spine; no bioluminescent tissue; dorsal fin with 8 spines, middle spines longest; anus immediately before anal-fin origin.
