Summary:
A slender blenny with a pale grey back, a broad dark brown stripe from the eye along the side to the middle caudal-fin rays, a pale underside, a pale patch above the eye, and a golden inner iris ring and a red outer ring.

Distribution |
Endemic to Western Australia, from Adele Island to the Kimberley Region. Typically inhabits turbid coral and rocky reefs, sheltering in crevices within the reef when threatened. |

Dorsal fin XI-XIII, 14-15; Anal fin II, 15-16; Pectoral fin 14-16; Pelvic fin I,3-4; Caudal fin procurrent rays 12; Vertebrae 9-10 + 20 = 29-30; Cirri, nuchal 23-30, supraorbital 5-9, nasal 8-20. Dorsal fin incised above last spine, male with first spine filamentous, higher than 2nd spine; scales and scale-like flaps absent; lateral-line tubes 1-5, series ending below dorsal fin rays 1-5; nuchal cirri in 4 groups, dorsal-most cirri some not connected at their bases, with nuchal flap bearing the ventral-most groups; cephalic sensory pore system simple. |

Etymology |
The species is named in honour of ichthyologist Gerald R. Allen of the Western Australia Museum, who collected and photographed all specimens known at the time in the Kimberly Region, Western Australia. |
