A pale greyish-brown puffer becoming whitish below, with numerous irregular pale spots outlined by brownish specks scattered on the body, and a row of orange spots along the midside.

Off Iluka to Bermagui, New South Wales. Inhabits sandy areas in coastal bays. |
Features |
Dorsal fin 9-10; Anal fin 7-8; Pectoral fin 15-16; Caudal fin 11; Vertebrae 8 + 11. Dorsum sparsely covered with short spines to just before dorsal fin; prebranchial margin almost devoid of spines, those present small, sometimes with small, associated papillae. |
Etymology |
The species is "named for Dr Jennifer M. E. Anderson, a very friendly and pleasant colleague, with whom I shared working facilities whilst at the University of New South Wales". |
