Summary:
A mottled brownish snake eel with a reddish to whitish head, small brown spots scattered on upper sides, and the dorsal fin with a blackish base and a broad white margin.

Distribution

Recorded in the Australian EEZ from Lizard Island, Queensland and Lihou Reef, in the Coral Sea. Occurs elsewhere in the tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific.
Inhabits sandy areas near reefs in depths to 25 m.
