Distribution

Whitsunday Passage, Queensland, to Sydney Harbour, New South Wales. Inhabits inshore reefs and estuaries, often around sponges, in depths to 50 m.

Etymology

Ogilby named the species "... for Mr. Jonathan Thompson Jameson, an enthusiastic collector, who has brought me many interesting zoological specimens."
