Summary:

A yellowish-white to pale mauve glidergoby with a blue-edged orange to pink stripe from the upper lip, running across the cheek, along the lower side and extending onto the caudal fin, a similar often darker stripe running through the eye along the upper side and onto the caudal fin. Juveniles have a yellow stripe along the midside and pair of dark stripes along the back.

Distribution	Dirk Hartog Island, Western Australia, to south of Sydney, New South Wales. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, east-Indo-west Pacific: Indonesia east to the Philippines and Papua New Guinea, north to northern Vietnam and Taiwan, south to Australia. Inhabits silty, sandy and rubble areas near reefs, Sheltering in burrows when threatened.
Feeding	Individuals feed by sifting mouthfuls of sand.
Etymology	The specific name immaculata is from the Latin im- (= not) and maculatus (= spotted, stained) in reference to the lack of spots in this species.
