Distribution |
Recorded in Australia from the Great Barrier Reef, to One Tree Island, Queensland, and reefs in the Coral Sea. The species occurs only on the Great Barrier Reef, New Caledonia, and in the western Coral Sea. Inhabits caves on reef slopes and drop-offs. |
Biology |
Dottybacks are protogynous hermaphrodites, and form small harems with a dominant male and several females. |
Etymology |
The species is named coralensis for its distribution in the Coral Sea. |
