Summary:
A small deep-dwelling shrimpgoby with a row of four dusky blotches along the side, pale spots on the head, the first three dorsal-fin spines greatly elongated and filamentous, and a long lanceolate caudal fin.

Features |
Diagnostic characters: 11 segmented rays on second dorsal fin; 30–31 longitudinal scale count; single predorsal scale; 8–9 transverse scale count from origin of second dorsal fin backward and downward to anal-fin base; pectoral-fin base scaled; anterior 3 spines of first dorsal fin greatly prolonged and filamentous, extending posteriorly to a little beyond base of seventh segmented ray of second dorsal fin; caudal fin long, lanceolate. |

In preservative: cheek, operculum and nape with several pale spots; a series of 4 dusky blotches on side of body. |

Biology |
Lives in a symbiotic relationship with alpheid shrimps. |

Etymology |
The specific name longimanus is from the Latin longus (= long) and manus (= hand), in reference to the long pectoral fins of this species that extend almost to below the middle of the second dorsal fin. |
