Distribution	Barrow Island, Western Australia, to Townsville, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, east-Indo-west Pacific.
Feeding	Feeds near the bottom on fishes, crustaceans, chaetognaths, nematodes, bivalves, and gastropod molluscs.
Species Citation	Equula longispinis Valenciennes, in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1835, Histoire Naturelle des Poissons 10: 94. Type locality: Waigeo (as Waigiou), Indonesia.
