Distribution |
Ningaloo Reef and offshore reefs of north Western Australia, and Ashmore Reef, Timor Sea, to Sydney, New South Wales. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical Indo-west Pacific. Forms small haremic aggregations over rubble bottoms and weedy areas, usually in turbid plankton-rich waters. |

Feeds on zooplankton about a metre above the bottom. |
