Etymology |
Named in honour of Neville Coleman of Springwood, New South Wales, who first discovered the species at Norfolk Island in December 1989. He also observed only a single individual, and the locality in Emily Bay was the same as that of the holotype. Coleman took a distant underwater photograph of the fish. His photograph shows a larger eye relative to the length of the fish than the holotype, suggesting that it was a subadult. We think it likely that we collected the same individual that Coleman photographed in late 1989 (Randall & Francis 1993). |
