Summary:

An abundant medium size skate with a very long snout, slender tail and quadrangular disc. The disk is broader than it is long and the tail short, with 1 row of thorns. Void of nuchal thorns, malar thorns and lacking a rosette of thorns around the eyes. Grey-brown dorsal surface, ventral surface dusky and irregular with dark-edged pores.

From Hinchinbrook Island to Gladstone off Queensland. Found at a depth of 195-605 m.

Features

Medium size skate with a very long snout. Short, slender tail with a pale upper caudal fin lobe and a quadrangular disc. Void of nuchal thorns, malar thorns and lacking a rosette of thorns around the eyes. Grey-brown dorsal surface, ventral surface dusky with dark-edged pores.

Biology

Almost nothing is known about the biology of this species. Males mature at 55-66 cm.
