Summary:
A very small violet wrasse with six orange stripes along sides, a small ocellus on the upper part of the caudal-fin base, a blue stripe along the anal-fin base, and a blue streak on the pelvic fin.

Distribution

Ningaloo Reef and offshore Reefs of Western Australia, Ashmore Reef, Timor Sea, and the northern Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, to the Solitary Islands, New South Wales; also Christmas Island in the eastern Indian Ocean, reefs in the Coral Sea, and Lord Howe Island in the Tasman Sea. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific.
